Dr. Robert W. Cushner was born in Waterford, Connecticut. He attended Colorado State and Boston University. Dr. Cushner graduated from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his Podiatric Surgical Residency at Northwest General Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. During his residency he studied under Dr. E. J. Eyring in Pediatric Orthopedics. Upon graduation, he moved to Statesboro, Georgia, to begin private practice in April of 1981.
Dr. Cushner is a Diplomate of American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is board certified in foot and ankle surgery. He is a fellow of the College of the Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a member of the American and the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association. He is a charter member of the Society of Lower Extremity Peripheral Nerve Surgery. Dr. Cushner studied and trained under Dr. A. Lee Dellon, in surgically releasing peripheral nerves for diabetics to regain sensation. Dr. Dellon is a Professor of Plastic and Neurological surgery at John Hopkins School.
Dr. Cushner's primary office, Family Podiatry Center, P.C. is located in Statesboro, Georgia, and a satellite office is located in Vidalia, Georgia. He has staff privileges at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Candler County Hospital in Metter, Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia and Tattnall Community Hospital in Reidsville.
Dr. Cushner is the CEO of Statesboro Ambulatory Surgery Center where he supervises eight full and one part time staff.
Dr. Cushner is an avid sportsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing and golf. Dr. Cushner and his wife, Marie, live in Statesboro with their four children.
